about
Salka Gullbrá (1992) is a theater maker and director, stand-up comedian, activist and writer born in Iceland.
In her latest work at DAS Theatre, she uses stand-up comedy, musical theater and the interaction with the audience in a one-woman-show to explore the strange, absurd, and terrible aspects of our daily life. Like militarization. Like pop culture. Their configuration at the same time. Our compulsion to follow rules and make sure that our neighbors do the same. In her research at DAS, she’s been exploring if she can make war funny and the theater sexy (the answer to both is probably not).

In her ongoing project Kidarchy, she collaborates with children to make performances that invite adults to get real tattoos, good advice or a fabulous haircut from a child.
Kidarchy’s performances have been featured at FiNN Festival in Norway, the Reykjavík Art Festival, Reykjavik Dance Festival as well as Children’s Culture Festival in Reykjavik. Salvör was part of ASSITEJ’s Next Generation Programme in 2019.
Salka is currently based in Zaandam, The Netherlands.
